Introduction 簡介
There is a growing demand in the United States for learning the world’s second-largest language, Mandarin. To meet this demand, the Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning (TCML) was officially opened on September 12, 2021. The enrollment targets mainstream society individuals over 18 years old who are interested in learning Mandarin and about Taiwanese culture.
At the Center, students from the Tampa community learn Mandarin using traditional character writing, and also learn about the customs and culture of Taiwan. TCML aims to promote a deeper understanding of Taiwan, along with its spirit of freedom and democracy.
美國人對於學習世界第二大語言的需求日益增長，為滿足此一需求，本學習中心於2021年9月12日正式揭牌營運，招生對象為 18 歲以上的主流社會人士。
本學習中心不僅以傳統的正體字來教授華語，還納入額外的文化課程，向在地社區介紹臺灣的傳統習俗與文化，以期藉由華語文學習中心的努力，讓主流人士對於同屬自由民主陣線的臺灣有更深入的認識。
Courses 課程特色
Tampa Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning offers a full program for adults over 18, from Beginner to Advanced level. We use not only the digital materials from “Huayu World”, but also textbooks provided by the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC), “Let’s Learn Mandarin”, “Speak Mandarin in 500 Words”, and “Speak Mandarin in 1000 Words.” Our program allows students to choose from writing systems such as Bopomofo and Pinyin to learn listening, speaking, reading, and writing; we use mp3 audios to help with student pronunciation.
The Center aims to provide a lively language learning environment that values “freedom and democracy while respecting cultural diversity”; we enhance student learning with extra cultural classes. Beyond learning the language, students are encouraged to participate in our cultural courses, including calligraphy, Erhu, Ocarina, cooking, lion dance, drums, fan dance, diabolo, Go, and so on. The program is designed to keep students engaged with the language and enhance their appreciation of the beauty of cultural diversity.
天柏中文學校臺灣華語文學習中心招收18歲以上有志學習華語者，課程從入門班至進階班，教材方面除採用全球最受歡迎的【全球華文網】數位教材，亦使用僑委會提供學習連貫性高之新編雙語教材—《來！學華語》、《五百字說華語》與《一千百說華語》。優質師資帶領學生運用拼音、ㄅㄆㄇㄈ和mp3語音檔來練習聽說讀寫。華語課後另有額外文化課程，涵蓋書法、二胡、陶笛、烹飪、舞獅、陣鼓、扇子舞、扯鈴、圍棋等豐富活動，增強學生文化欣賞。

If traveling from the north on I-275S, take exit 52 and follow N Central Avenue for 2 blocks, then turn right onto E 127th Ave. The school is on the right in Chinese Christian Alliance Church.
If traveling from Downtown Tampa on I-275N, take exit 51, merge onto FL-582 W/E Fowler Ave, turn right onto US-41 BUS N/N Florida Ave, make a right on E 127th Ave to arrive at Tampa Chinese School on the left.
