Introduction 簡介
Washington DC Taiwanese School (WDCTS) officially established the Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning in September, 2021. At present, it has 11 registered adult students taking Beginner to Advanced level Mandarin classes. Since opening, the school has actively handled enrollment and special cooperative projects, aiming to achieve good results from the Center. The school is located in Washington DC, the political center of the United States. The Center has very good opportunities to communicate with mainstream society; some students work in federal government agencies or think tanks. The Center can increase the number of people in mainstream society learning Mandarin and about Taiwan and its culture. Through the exchange of language and culture, we aim to not only let more people know about the beauty of Taiwan, but also help build a greater influence for Taiwan.
華府臺灣學校於2021年9月正式開辦臺灣華語文學習中心，目前有初級班至高級班共11人。開學以來，校方積極辦理招生以及洽談特殊合作專案，期能使臺灣華語文學習中心達到更大的效果。該校位於美國華府，為美國政治中心，學生當中常有聯邦政府機構或其他智庫人員，華語文學習中心與主流社會人士交流的機會非常密切，能充分發揮臺灣政府設置中心的目的，擴大美方學習華語認識臺灣的機會，透過語言與文化的交流，讓世人更了解臺灣之美，為臺灣建構更大的影響力！
Courses 課程特色
Washington DC Taiwanese School (WDCTS) is one of the very few schools that teach both the Mandarin and Taiwanese languages. The school passes on Taiwanese language, and promotes Taiwanese culture. The school’s Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning has a 2-semester system starting in fall and spring of the year respectively. From September, WDCTS has held its in-person learning classes at Cabin John Middle School in Potomac, Maryland, from 1:30pm to 3 pm every Sunday with additional online courses which meet weekly. In addition to regular classes, students enrolled in WDCTS participate in diversified festivals and cultural activities. WDCTS plays an important role in leading Taiwanese Americans to present "Taiwanese culture" to the mainstream community.
華府臺灣學校是美國少數同時教授臺語和華語，傳承臺灣語文，推廣臺灣文化的學校。中心成人班分秋季班及春季班2學期，9月及1月中開始，每星期日下午1點半到3點在馬里蘭州Potomac的Cabin John Middle School實體上課，部分課程也採取線上教學。此外，還有多元性的節慶文化活動、臺灣傳統性節日以及在美國的臺美人活動，扮演著重要的領銜者，帶動著臺美人把「臺灣文化」呈現給主流社區。
