Introduction 簡介
New York Taiwan Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Flushing, Queens, was founded in 1986 by Taiwanese Americans in the New York area.
Our mission is to serve community members through cultural, artistic, community, and educational programs that introduce and promote Taiwan and Taiwanese American culture.
With the opening of the Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning Program, we provide opportunities for non-Mandarin speakers to learn traditional characters, participate in cultural activities, and discover the beauty of Taiwan.
紐約臺灣會館成立於1986年，由大紐約地區臺美人所自資捐獻設立的第一座社區中心，座落於紐約市皇后區的法拉盛市中心，為501(c)(3)非營利組織。
臺灣會館致力發展為多元及綜合性的社區中心，提供多族裔各項文化活動與教育節目；同時也積極地扮演臺美文化與教育交流的橋樑。
首辦「臺灣華語文學習中心」，其為推廣會館宗旨，增加更多機會讓母語非華語人士走進臺灣會館，學習正體華語文，參與文化活動，進而認識臺灣的美。
Courses 課程特色
The program is open to adults over the age of 18. Each course is 12 weeks long, with 3 hours of lessons per week. Course materials are provided by the Overseas Community Affairs Council.
The courses introduce students to traditional characters and builds listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. In addition, they provide students with the opportunity to explore Taiwanese culture and its history.
Furthermore, the Taiwan Center organizes cultural activities from time to time, with which students can immerse themselves in the authentic culture of Taiwan and increase their interest in Mandarin study. The events include traditional festival celebrations, Taiwanese Heritage Week series, Passport to Taiwan Festival, etc.
招收18歲以上成人，一期12週，每週三小時，課程以僑委會提供之華語文教材為主。教師們教學經驗豐富，教授正體中文，培養華語文的聽、說、讀、寫全方位能力；輔以文化課程，介紹臺灣風土民情及認識臺灣歷史。
此外，臺灣會館不定期舉辦文化活動，歡迎學生參加，體驗道地臺灣文化內涵增加華語文學習興趣，其活動有：傳統節慶慶祝、與紐約僑團合辦臺美人傳統週系列節目、臺灣巡禮園遊會等等。

The Taiwan Center is located in downtown Flushing. It is easily accessible by public transportation, such as the Long Island Rail Road, Metro subway 7 train, and buses. Street parking is available at the entrance of the Taiwan Center, and there are paid parking lots nearby.
