Introduction 簡介
The Mid-Hudson Chinese Language Center (MHCLC) was founded by Chinese families in 1968. We are a non-profit organization run exclusively by volunteers. We provide an engaging and inclusive environment where students of all ages and backgrounds can come together to learn Mandarin, culture, and arts. Students can start with little or no previous experience and will be able to build up their knowledge, advancing to fluency in speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills. We expose our students to traditional arts and activities, such as calligraphy, painting, chess, dance, Kung-fu, and more, to explore the relationship between language and culture. Our school's mission is to engage individuals interested in Mandarin and culture by providing an enjoyable and well-rounded curriculum and empowering them with skills that can be utilized in a global setting. We also aim to promote cultural awareness and diversity through charitable activities within the local community and beyond.
本校於1968年成立於紐約上州，風景優美，人文薈萃的赫德遜河谷中區，是一所由家長與志工組成的非營利組織。創立的宗旨在於提供華人子弟學習中文，並經由語文的學習和文化的浸潤，以培養他們華語的溝通能力深入認識傳統中華文化。本校多年來一直秉持着以推廣正體華語文教育，及傳承中華傳統文化的理念為社區大眾提供循序漸進的語文课。並加入文化課程，帶領學員更加快速融入。例如民族舞蹈、扯鈴、舞獅、國畫、書法、剪紙、捏麵人及中華美食烹飪等。希望在潛移默化中融入於多元文化的環境裏，同時展現出中華文化價值，以增進族裔的多元化和包容性。
Courses 課程特色
We offer Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Mandarin Chinese classes in the Mid-Hudson area. Every academic year includes two semesters that are each 15 weeks long. Language classes adopt course materials provided by the Overseas Community Affairs Council and are supplemented with topical and contemporary materials. Other classes will dive into the rich cultural history and may include painting, knotting, paper cutting, music appreciation, traditional songs, and cooking. We host regular events highlighting the beauty of traditional culture, providing opportunities for our community to come together.
目前本校提供主流社會人士成人入門初級班至高級華語文班等課程。每年開辦2個學期，每學期3個月課程，每週語文課2小時，文化課1小時。使用教材主要為僑委會所提供針對成人零起點開發的《來！學華語》以及《五百字說華語》、《一千字說華語》同時輔以適合課程主題的相關材料，使内容更豐富，學習更有趣味！語文課學習目標為學習漢字的字源、筆順和部件結構。學習主題式詞彙，基本語法和常用句型。利用漢語拼音學習中文打字，鼓勵使用手機，電郵用中文聯繫。藉此建立聽、說、讀、寫、打字的基本能力，循序漸進能運用自如。上課中藉由生活化的會話活動，著重運用中文溝通，來理解與表達，提高學生口語表達能力，逐步提升閱讀理解。文化課將讓學員親身參與，以輕鬆同樂的方式讓學生體認中華多元文化，例如: 國畫、窗花剪紙、中國結、音樂課和烹飪課。
