Introduction 簡介

Ai-Hwa Chinese Language School, located in the City of El Paso at the border of the US states of Texas and New Mexico, and Chi-huahua of Mexico, is the only Taiwan-friendly Chinese school in the surrounding area. The school has been in operation for nearly 30 years by coordinating with the Professional and Public Programs (P3) of The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), and utilizing its College of Business facilities for classes. In Spring of 2022, Ai-Hwa, carrying on the school’s mission to educate overseas Chinese youths in Mandarin and culture, established Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning to expand services to the adult population and promote special features of Taiwanese Mandarin language teaching.

臺灣華語文學習中心-艾華中文學校位於德州西境美墨邊界艾爾巴索，為當地唯一一所友我中文學校，設校至今近30年，與艾爾巴索德州大學（University of Texas at El Paso, UTEP）互動良好，長期租用該校商學院教室上課。該校以教育海外華裔子弟瞭解及認同傳統文化為宗旨，於2022年初開始設立臺灣華語文學習中心，擴大服務對象到成年人，希望能在艾爾巴索地區，推廣具臺灣特色的正體華語文教學。

Courses 課程特色

Ai-Hwa Chinese School’s Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning provides a well-established curriculum that focuses on Zhu-Yin phonetics and traditional characters, as well as listening, speaking, reading, writing, and cultural familiarization. In addition, extracurricular programs are organized to enrich students’ experiences in community and cultural activities. Students are provided opportunities to participate in traditional dances, diabolo (traditional yoyo), martial arts, and lion dance performances, which can further enhance their understanding of traditional culture.

The students are divided into five levels: Introductory, Fundamental I, Fundamental II, Intermediate, and Advanced. There are Spring and Fall semesters for a total of 26 weekly, 3-hour in-person classes every Sunday. We will start offering the Mandarin program for adults age 18 and above.

艾華中文學校設立之臺灣華語文學習中心提供完整的課程，課程以注音符號及正體華語為主，同時提供聽、說、讀、寫和文化課程，並帶領學生參與校內及當地社區的文化活動，鼓勵學生學習表演民俗舞蹈、功夫及舞獅等，啟發學生們對傳統文化的認識。

課程依程度分初級、基礎一、基礎二、中級及高級，每學年分春季及秋季共26週，上課時間為每週日3小時實體課程，將以華語文基礎零起點之18歲以上人士為招生對象。
